As preparations are in top gear
for the 2015 general election in the country, a political chieftain in Abak
local government area, Obong Emmanuel Ibitekpe has expressed optimism that the
newly-merged political party, APC will succeed the present PDP government in
the State.
Obong Ibitekpe who spoke with
journalists in Uyo on arrival from Zamfara State where he attended the ANPP
merger convention recently, described the coming together of other political
parties under one umbrella as a welcome development which according to him,
will give the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a good fight and also make
them to sit up and provide the much-needed dividends of democracy to the
people.
The former ANPP Chapter Chairman
for Abak local government area pointed out that with the caliber of people in
APC, the party will succeed both at the National and in Akwa Ibom State.
He however lauded the State
Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for the numerous achievements he has recorded
in the State since he assumed the mantle of leadership as the state chief
executive, stressing that whoever would succeed him from the APC, will be a man
of proven integrity and of excellent track record who would come in to continue
from where Chief Akpabio will stop.
Obong Ibitekpe who is now the Abak
Chapter Chairman of the newly-merged APC, explained that his party has zoned
the Governorship position to Eket Senatorial District for peace, justice and
equity to prevail in the State.
The APC Chairman hinted that since
the merger, many people are joining the new party having not being carried
along in the PDP “APC is a new political party that will give PDP a good fight
during the 2015 general election in the Country. Infact, we will succeed at the
National level and here in Akwa Ibom. We will produce the next governor who
will succeed Chief Godswill Akpabio and he will come from Eket Senatorial
District because we believe in equity, justice and fair-play”, the APC Chairman
stated.
Chief Ibitekpe informed that the
party is open and will continue to welcome new members.
