Desist from smear campaign against Akpabio, Enobong Uwah warns

The Honourable commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Prince Enobong Uwah has warned those he described as dishonest politicians and Professional blackmailers to desist forthwith from ill conceived smear campaigns against Gov. Godswill Obot Akpabio. Speaking to Airport correspondents on arrival from the United States, who sought his views on the recent spate of negative Press against his boss, Prince Uwah frowned at the development maintaining that everybody knows those behind the campaign of calumny directed at the governor.

“We all know those behind the orchestrated smear campaign qgainst Gov. Akpabio and sustained by a section of partisan media and biased press mediums and we warn them to desist from the act” Uwah said.

Prince Uwah who observed that there was no need for the uproar over recent political decisions of the governor in the state which are routine, decried a situation where some people feel that, they can hold the entire state to ransom and cause a breach of the community spirit in Akwa Ibom and overheat the polity simply because their narrow interests are not being served. Prince Uwah stated that having worked closely with the governor, first as his special Assistant Protocol Matters, Abuja Liason Office and now as Commissioner in his cabinet, he coul vouch for the patriotism, good heart and unequalled love Gov Akpabio has for the state and the people.

He dismissed insinuations of those claiming Gov. Akpabio is playong Tin God saying those who live in glass houses should stop throwing stones and really search themselves to know who is actually playing God and indispensable to the State and her people. On the recent paid advertorials by certain groups which claim to protect Ibibio interests and accuse the governor of having an agenda against Ibibios, Prince Uwah dismissed such groups as faceless impostors who have a premeditated agenda and want to stoke ethnic bigotry by using Ibibio names.

Commissioner Uwah wondered whether such groups are more Ibibio than 80% of Personal Assistants to the governor who are Ibibio or 55% of the cabinet including the deputy governor and SSG who are Ibibios. Prince Uwah argued that, the activities of Gov. Akpabio since hecame to power in 2007 in terms of political appointments and projects execution put a lie to the wicked lie of hate for Ibobios adding that, even President Goodluck Jonathan among other great statesmen have acknowledged that Gov. Akpabio does not play politics with leadership.

The commissioner declared that the Egyptians we see today, we shall see them no more pointing out that Gov. Akpabio has been a victim of organized media blackmail before and overcame it with sincerity and truth. He charged the governors traducers to have a rethink and join hands with other well meaning people of Akwa Ibom to move the state foward and rally round the governor who means very well for the state. Prince Uwah said Chief Akpabio remains committed to his assurance of the people that God and the people will chose a worthy successor to him and called for prayers for the governor.
