APN preaches unity

Akwa Ibom Progressive Network says what the state needs now more than ever is unity especially as the 2015 election approaches observing that it is through unity of purpose that the state will be able to present a strong voice in the politics of the nation. The group stated this through the BOT secretary Aniebiet Odung over the weekend while exchanging views with THE INK reporter.

Odung, a former chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area observed that the state Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio had done enough to unite the state and charged all indigenes of the state at home and in the Diaspora to always see themselves as Akwa Ibomites.

He maintained that Governor Akpabio who is the leader of the state sees himself as a servant leader and called on other leaders from the state to follow suit. The APN man maintained that the current intrigues towards the 2015 succession bid are all part of politics and its factors but called on prospective aspirants and interest groups to moderate themselves in their pursuit for the political positions they are arguing for. He said that the intrigues are as a result of the awareness that has come to be in the state and categorically praise the State Governor for being a light towards the path of a greater Akwa Ibom State.

While commending the wonderful partnership of the new SSG Mr. Udom Emmanuel with Governor Godswill Akpabio, he noted that Udom Emmanuel has brought finesse, taste, class and character to leadership and hence his ability to fit into the scheme of things in the state executive council with relative ease.

The member of the Governing council of Akwa Ibom state Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua further charged indigenes of the state and even visitors to the state to apply full loyalty to the government and its functionaries as accordingly to him that will ensure that government properties and institutions will be protected. He hinted that with a total obedience of the laws of the land, there would not be a breakdown of law and order. Odung also appealed to the people to have respect and show regards to constituted authorities as according to him, every government is installed by God.

He called on the people to join hands with the government to build an enviable Akwa Ibom State which will be the beauty of the nation.
