 Ibiono Ibom Youth Summit holds Nov. 27
The sixth annual Ibiono Ibom Youth Summit and Cultural Carnival 2013 organised by the Ibiono Ibom Youth for Democracy and Development in conjunction with the Supreme Council of Ibiono Ibom Youth leaders will holds from November 27 – 30th, 2013. 

The theme of the summit: “Ibiono Ibom: The land of limitless opportunities for investment” is in line with the resolve of the Youth Council to bring to limelight the rich natural resources to investors who wish to explore. 

According to the National President of the association Moses Essien, who briefed newsmen, the idea of organizing a youth summit as an annual event to bring all the youths together was conceived and commenced in 2006. Subsequently, the summit has been organized annually since 2008 impacting positively on the social, economic political and cultural life of the people with outstanding achievements which include award of scholarship to 88 students of Ibiono Ibom Studying in Tertiary Institutions sponsored by Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State

Other achievements include organisation of the first ever beauty pageant in Ibiono Ibom that crowned Miss Ibiono Ibom in 2011, presentation of 155 dozens of exercise books and chalk to 25 selected schools in Ibiono ibom in support of Chief Godswill Akpabio’s free and compulsory education policy in the state, publication of three editions of NTAKROK magazine as a medium to educate, enlighten and disseminate information and a successful deworming exercise for more than 200 pupils in five selected primary schools in Ibiono Ibom as their contribution to the development of the health sector and the sensitization of youths on the HIV/AIDS pandemic. 

Other notable achievements include empowering 10 youths in the local government area through apprenticeship programme on their choice areas of specialization, financial assistance of N100,000 each to 22 youths drawn from the 11 wards of Ibiono Ibom to enhance their business sponsored by Hon. Kenneth Archibong, member House of Representatives, Abuja, organisation of the first Ibiono Ibom Youth Cultural Carnival 2012 which was aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area, sensitization of the unity Football competition, Essay competition and the publication of a compendium “The Voice” where all resource papers presented in past summits in the local Government are compiled for reference. 

The 2013 edition will feature a final of the football competition on the 27th of November with winners taking N100, 000, 70,000 and N50, 000 respectively.
On the 28th of November 2013, the first Mr. Ibiono Ibom competition will take place together with the second edition of the Miss Ibiono Ibom as prizes include 42 inch LED Samsung Flat Screen television, a giant sized thermo cool refrigerator and a big generating set for winners along with consolidation prizes. 

The 30th of November, 2013 will feature the second Ibiono Ibom Youth Cultural Carnival Float which will feature renowned artistes while the fourth edition of the NTAKROK Magazine will be presented to the public.
Dignitaries expected include, Her Honour, Noble Lady Valerie Ebe as Special Guest of Honour, while the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon is expected as the Guest of Honour. 

The chairman of the occasion will be Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State. Other dignitaries expected include Obong (Barr) Ime Okon, member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the state legislature, Obong Monday Uko, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kenneth Archibong of the House of Representatives while Obong Godwin Ekpo is the Chief host.
