More groups have continued to express anger over the penultimate manhandling of Barr Onofiok Luke, member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency at the State House of Assembly by Emanuel Ekon and Nse Ntuen.

The latest is coming from a Human Rights Activist and a social crusader Barr. Leo Ekpenyong. Speaking from Abuja the Etinan born legal luminary described the assault on Luke by Nse Ntuen and Emmanuel Ekon under the supervision of Governor Akpabio as an affront on the sensibilities of not only the youths of the State but the entire leadership and members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; calling on all sons and daughters of the State to condemn the action in its entirety.

Barr. Leo Ekpenyong speaking on-behalf of the leadership and members of Ibom Rescue Forum observed that the assault on Barr. Luke was quite uncalled for. He however advised that such action is capable of creating unnecessary enmity in the State. In a message delivered to our inbox, Ekpenyong said “We condemn the maltreatment of Onofiok by unscrupulous elements”.

He warned that the action of Ntuen and Ekon were dishonourable in every sense and aspect of it and maintained that Ibom Rescue Mission will always stand on the side of truth and will never blink an eye to what is not right.
Also, a socio-political group in Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency has condemned the attack describing it as a silly action from the National Assembly man and the ALGON boss Nse Ntuen. In a statement delivered to our reporter and endorsed by its Chairman, Comrade Ayara observed that Federated Abak Youths Coalition (FAYOC) condemns the manhandling of Onofiok Luke by the duo. The group said “…

FAYOC called on people in the state to dis countenance reports aimed at presenting Governor Godswill Akpabio as a tribalist and ethnic bigot, as such does not portray the image of the Governor. Com. Ayara who is the president of the Former Abak Youth Coalition while speaking onbehalf of the body described Nse Ntuen and Emmanuel Ekon’s attack on Onofiok Luke as morally deranging. He however called on well meaning sons and daughters of the federal constituency to rise against the hydra headed act of malice and hooliganism as portrayed by Hon Emman Ekon as it does not place the area in good light.

Speaking further he highlighted that by all standards the state assembly member who has been at the fore front of ensuring youths and students in the state regardless of where they come from have a better deal never deserved such treatment from the national assembly member who has done virtually nothing at justifying the mandate he has from his people.

He reminded all and sundry that the people of the abak federal constituency were good and hospitable people whose collective conduct and aspirations the anti social tendency of Hon ekon's attitude does not represent and called on hon emman ekon to apologise to hon onofiok luke and henceforth drop his re-election bid to the nass as a deterrent to others who may stop at nothing to encourage hooliganism and disunity to present our federal constituency in bad light.

The National Youths Assembly of Nigeria in a release captioned “Undue Assault on Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke” said they are demanding an unreserved apology from Ekon and Ntuen and threatened retaliation. The release got the backing of the Speaker, Amb. Kassem Muhd.
