Oruk Anam Chair has no link to militants – Group

The Oruk Anam Agenda a social political group in Oruk Anam Local Government Area says their Council Chairman Hon. Anthony Akpan has no link either directly or indirectly with militants.

The group stated this while reacting to information that the council boss has been in a messy deal with militants. In a release signed by Eno Eshiet, National Coordinator, Umoren Umoren General Secretary and Prince Sunday Francise PRO of the body and made available to our correspondent during the weekend, Oruk Anam Agenda maintained that the council chairman Anthony Akpan is a law abiding citizen who has never been found wanting in any aspect  of his endeavour.
Part of the release indicates that the said chairman has never consciously or unconsciously associated himself with any riff-raff, talk less of employing the services of militants before and since assuming office.

Recounting how the council boss came into   office, the body said Anthony Akpan was a running mate to Comrade Linus Ekuriku who won the PDP primaries and the general election over whelmingly through the massive support of the good people of Oruk Anam and that upon the untimely demise of Ekiriku, Akpan who was then the vice chairman elect had to step into the position of the council chairman in obedience to the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic Nigeria.

Oruk Anam Agenda however denied any imposition of Akpan on the people emphasizing that Hon. Anthony Akpan was never superimposed by the state Governor Godswill Akpabio on the people of Oruk Anam. While pledging support to the Akpabio led administration, the body urged the people or Oruk Anam to continue in their support for the Hon. Anthony Akpan led administration
