Akpabio harps on fairness and justice on federation account

The state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio has harped on the need to uphold the principles of fairness, justice and equity in the revenue sharing by the Federation Account.

Governor Akpabio stated this while declaring open a two-day retreat by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) Post-Mortem Sub-Committee holding at the civil service auditorium, in Uyo.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan said such principles are indispensable to the attainment of lofty heights in the socio-economic development of the country.
 On the Revenue sharing formula, Governor Akpabio declared that Akwa Ibom State will align in totality to the stance and position of the South South Governors in that regard, and expressed optimism that when the Blueprint on that is completed and forwarded to the National Assembly for approval, and fully implemented, it will address the socio-economic imbalance in the country.

 He commended the effort of the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission ,and FAAC Post-  mortem committee  for their effort in correcting the anomalies in the Federation Account and the successes so far recorded and called on them not to rest in their oars towards ensuring that equity, justice, and fairness are reflected in the revenue sharing.

 Governor Akpabio  noted with satisfaction  that his administration’s commitment towards making the state the toast of the country as witnessed in the uncommon transformation has attracted the world to Akwa Ibom State, making it an investors haven.

 While welcoming the Delegates to the land of promise, Governor Akpabio assured that modalities have been put in place to make their stay in Akwa Ibom State  a memorable one, and wished them a fruitful and a rewarding deliberations.
Earlier ,the Chairman ,Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, Engr. Eliam Mbam represented by Chief Nnamdi Osita stated that the retreat was to further promote the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

 Tagged “Appraisal of the Management of the Federation Account,”, Engr. Mbam said ,that in line with their constitutional mandate of monitoring accruals into the disbursement of revenue from Federation Account, the retreat will seek to conceptualize new initiatives that would improve and enhance transparent management of the Federation Account, and urged the Participants to engage actively by making appropriate contributions so that the goals and objectives of the retreat could be achieved.

 On his part, the Chairman, FAAC post-mortem sub-committee, Mr.Useni Gangum, expressed gratitude to the Government and people of the state for their show of love, support and hospitality, describing it as a mark of honour to President Goodluck Jonathan.
 Mr. Gangum appreciated the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for his giant strides in Akwa Ibom state adding that his uncommon transformation has set a pace for others to follow.

Also present at the retreat were Chairman, Forum of Commissioners for  Finance, represented by the Commissioner for Finance ,Enugu State, Chairman, Forum of Accountant-Generals of the Federation, the state Permanent Secretary Budget, Pastor Nicholas Ekarika, State Accountant -General, Sir. Udo Hillary Isobara and other members of FAAC Post- Mortem Sub-Committee.
