Ambassador Ukai foundation football tournament enters second round BY GODWIN SAM

The Ambassador Ukai Foundation Unity Football tournament organized by Ukai (Amb) Udeme Emmanuel for youths in Akwa Ibom State has entered its second round. The tournament which began on Sunday 19th of January, 2014, has 18 teams battling for the trophy.
 
According to the initiator of the tournament, Ukai (Amb) Udeme Emmanuel, the youth president of Itiam Etoi and an Ambassador for Peace to the United Nations (UN POLAC); the tournament is organized to promote peace and unity among youths in Akwa Ibom State. The football tournament was thrown open to all youths in Akwa Ibom State to register and participate with a registration fee of N3,000.

 
The Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Effiong Abia performed the kick-off amidst claps from the mammoth crowd of spectators.
 
Also at the opening ceremony, the Nka Ima Iban Itiam Etoi honoured Ukai Udeme Emmanuel with an award of “Iberedem Iban” for his contribution to the growth of youths and women in Itiam Etoi and Akwa Ibom State at large through the award of scholarships, provision of school uniform and books to pupils of primary schools and secondary schools in the State.
 
So far, twelve matches have been played. Some of the result shows that the Victorious FC defeated All Stars FC of Itiam 3-0, Unique Amb FC lost 0-2 to Arikpo Soccer Foundation, Tutors FC drew 1-1 with Milverton FC, while Macito Solution defeated Holy Boyz Eleven 2 goals to 0.  
 
Other results are Angel’s Wings 0 – D line Park FC 2; Otuekong Nse Essien FC 1 – Believer Stars FC 1; Atan FC 1 – Amicable R.S.F.C. 1; Niafa FC 1- AMB FC Academy 2; Shelter United 0 – Victorious FC 3; Talented FC 0- Unique AMB FC 0; and Arikpo Soccer Foundation 0- Otuekong Nse Essien FC 2. Other results will be published in our subsequent editions.
 
Meanwhile, quarter final matches will start on Friday 7th of February, 2014 while the final will be played on Sunday 16th February, 2014. All the matches are played at the Methodist Primary School, Itiam Etoi in Uyo Local Government Area. Football lovers are expected to continue watching the matches and to be entertained as all the matches are action-packed.
