A cross section of Ibiono Ibom indigenes has called on the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Rural Development, Barr Effiong Abia to resign his appointment and immediately declare his intension to vie for the forth coming 2015 gubernatorial election in the State.

Addressing the people of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area at Okoita, drawn from the eleven wards constituting the local government, Engr. Kufre Ekong Inyang said the call became imperative as the people after weighing contenders so far jostling for the coveted position from Eket Senatorial District, and taking into consideration their pedigree, astuteness, commitment to uphold the uncommon transformation philosophy and youth development, unanimously concluded that Barr Effiong Abia is the right person for the job.

Engr. Inyang emphasized that Abia being a tested and seasoned technocrat, a grassroots mobilizer, a man with an uncanny passion for youth development and also an integral member of the uncommon transformation team of the present administration, they are full of confidence that the Oro Nation born lawyer will surprise all doubting Thomases if and when given the opportunity to govern the State.
He was full of praises for the State Governor Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio for judiciously utilizing funds accrued to the State through his lofty and internationally appreciated uncommon transformation programme noting that “for the programme to continue unhindered after the end of his Excellency’s tenure, it will be unique and of advantage to Akwa Ibom people to lean their weight on somebody who has actually understudy and understand the “modus operandus” of governor”.

He further opined that never in the history of the State created 26 years ago has the State had it as excellent as in the present administration notably in the area of infrastructural and human development especially the youths whom he noted are now serving in different capacities in the administration.

The patron of many organization within and outside the State including Coalition for Akwa Ibom Agenda (CAKA) said Abia who performed diligently during his stint with the Governor in his days as the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs and also as the secretary of FGPC, and equally as commissioner in two different ministries is by now well equipped to fit into the big shoes which will be left behind by the Governor by 2015.

Engr. Kufre Inyang appealed to Ibiono Ibm people to be wary of people who are spending ill gotten wealth to buy their confidence stressing that “it s always advisable in this time of political campaign to be associated with an underdog with zeal and determination than a notable but devourable bulldog who may leave pains at latter days”.
