Okobo Youths at war with stakeholders over attack on LG Chairman

Okobo Youths at war with stakeholders over attack on LG Chairman
Youths of Okobo local government area have threatened fire and brimstone against some stakeholders in the area who are busy dusting their political arsenal to launch onslaught against the executive chairman of Okobo local government area, Princess Felicia Bassey as 2015 election approaches.

The youths under the aegis of Okobo Youths Alliance for Democracy and Good Governance noted that those who are being haunted by the rising and intimidating political profile of Princess Felicia Bassey and her robust relationship with the wife of the Governor Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio have been left with no option than to resort to empty blackmail, propaganda, sponsoring of fictitious and baseless publications in desperation to salvage their sinking political relevance.

Addressing newsmen in Okobo yesterday, the National Coordinator of the Group Comrade Anwana Esedeke and Secretary, Mr. Samuel Anso accused two prominent indigenes of the area. One who is a member of the State Executive Council and a gubernatorial aspirant in the 2015 elections and the other who is in the House of Assembly as those behind serial spurious allegations in some state tabloids to the effect that the Executive chairman was misappropriating the council funds with impunity since she assumed office and acquired an hostel in Calabar and Warehouse in Dubai.

The youths warned the duo whom they described as drowning and failed politicians to desist from their blackmail or be ready to face the anger of the youths of Okobo local government area.
Okobo Youths Alliance for Democracy and Good Governance exco hinted that those who are hell-bent in blackmailing the council chairman are doing so to scurry political favour from the Governor and the wife. They called on the governor to be watchful of these two politicians in Okobo, whose activities are capable of truncating the relative peace in Okobo local government area.

“Let me state here unequivocally clear that Felicia Bassey is the best chairman Okobo local government area has ever produced, in terms of open door administration policy, human empowerment and project execution. Very soon, we will invite our elected and appointed political office holders for progress reports. These are politicians who mortgage the future of the electorate and their people on the altar of self-aggrandizement, and posterity will not forgive them” the youths posited.

Comrade Anso and Anwana explained further that in this era where there are some leaders whose preoccupation find expression in blind indulgence in pursuit of personal gains to the detriment of the well-being of the governed, Felicia Bassey, has remained a politician with human face, having floated skilled acquisition training and empowerment programmes, designed to advance the cause of humanity; executed life-touching projects and ensured prompt payment of salary to staff of the council despite the seeming paucity of funds in various local government councils across the state.

“Let me inform the general public that these are the same politicians who empowered us to destroy posters of governorship spirants who are not from Oron during the town hall meeting. Today, they are busy accusing innocent and most popular aspirant from Oro nation of sponsoring the removal of posters” the group maintained.
