Family gets village head

The family of Nnung Edung of Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area has installed a new family head. He is Obong Offiong Sunday Akpan Enang(JP).

Presenting the new family head, the chairman of Nnung Udo Umana, Chief Otuekong Eyo Akpanenang, expressed happiness over the turnout of the three families that make up Nnung Edung, namely, Nnung Udo Umana, Nnung Udo Afaha and Nnung Essien Udo, for the occasion of Ukong Udak(the traditionaql installation ceremony) and acceptance by the large family of their representative as the head of the family.

Performing the ceremony, Chief Edet Ekpoe Udo, Patron of Nnung Udo Umana, charged the new family head to be up and doing and lead with the fear of God.

Elder Asuquo Archibong who spoke on behalf of the nuclear family advised the family head to see his enthronement as a popular choice of Nnung Edung and accordingly carry everybody along. While charging him not to bring bad image to the family, Elder Archibong called on Obong Enang to at all times remain a shining example and cooperate with the other chiefs of the three families of the village.
On his path, the Chairman of Nnung Udo Umana, Chief Otuekong Akpanenang urged the new family head to avoid being confrontational, but imbibe the nature of peace, even as Mr Aniedi Udombaba enjoined him to eschew high handedness, while praying God who led Nnung Edung ti elect him to lead them to grant him the wisdom and understanding to do so and shower blessings on him.

Also speaking, Apostle Effiong Okon Akpan charged Obong Enang to forget the past bickerings and forge ahead and join hands with the leadership of the village to work for their progress in general and the Nnung Edung family in particular. Apostle Okon entreated him to uphold the truth at all times, no matter who is concerned and ensure that fairness to all is his watchword.

Responding, Obong Enang thanked the entire members of Nnung Edung family for their overwhelming support and the confidence reposed in him, pledging to serve the with integrity and humility and never to let them down. He pleaded with all the members of the family to stand by him and support hin carry out the onerous responsibility thrust upon him. Present at the occassion wre Chief Okon Essien Udo, Chief Sunday Etuk, Chief Okon Sampson Edet, Barrister Etim Okon and Chief Michael Luke among other dignitaries.
