2015: IPC inaugurates Nat’l, Chapter excos - Pledges support for Richard King
 Ahead of the 2015 governorship election in Akwa Ibom state, a foremost socio-political group, Ibom Patriotic Congress (IPC), Sunday, August 10, 2014, inaugurated her national and state executives, with a pledge to support the governorship ambition of Prof. Richard King.

In a brief opening remarks, the chairman on the occasion, Prof. Aniekan Ekpe reminded the group that politics is a game of number and interest, adding that a person’s success in politics is determined by the level of acceptance.
“Politics is a game of number and a game of interest. That is why anybody who has interest in politics must convince as many people as possible to support him or her. There will always be disagreement, but I want to advise you all to use diplomacy to settle every internal dispute and forge ahead if you must achieve your goal.”

In is address, the president of the group, Hon. Bassey Edet, while reiterating the essence of the group said “Our group (IPC) is a socio-political organization aimed at elevating the livelihood of every Akwa Ibom person.

“We are interested in every Government that has direct bearing on the lives of the masses. A man who has the ability to restore the lost glory and embark upon socio-economic, academic, and infrastructural development of Akwa Ibom State.
“Significantly, IPC is in support of good governance, transparency, accountability and dynamic. As a yardstick, we strongly believe in the policy and vision of Prof. Richard, the Okuku of Idua Clan and Obong Ikkike of Uyo come 2015”.

Hon. Edet further charged the newly inaugurated executives and all members of the group to ensure that they work to deliver Prof. King in 2015. “As you are inaugurated today, in this capacity, we implore you to exemplify as a product of IPC. We instill and impact good values and norms in various domain by engaging you in effective political orientation”.

He however called on President Jonathan to declare for second term. “We therefore, call on our amiable President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, “His Excellency (Dr.) Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR)” to seek for 2nd term bid in office in order to complete his transformational agenda”.

Responding on behalf of Prof. King, Dr. Isreal Ben, who led a high-powered delegation from Abuja, said “we know that Akwa Ibom is a land of promise and the man who will make this promise come to fulfillment is no other than Prof. Richard King”.

Dr. Ben assured the group that Prof. King is committed to uplifting the lives of the common Akwa Ibom person through common transformation as against the “uncommon transformation” of the present state government, appealing to members of the group to take the message of Prof. king to all nooks and crannies of of the state.

The inauguration ceremony also featured taking of oath of alliance by the national president, national and state executive members and presentation of the flag of office to all the coordinators.
