Uncommon democracy ladder BY SUPREME OKPON

Uncommon democracy ladder
Since the re-launching of democracy in Nigeria in May 29, 1999, year after year celebrations are held in different parts of the country to mark the democracy day. In some states so much is celebrated but very little is achieved in terms of infrastructural development and this makes it a sick democracy.

It is mostly in Akwa Ibom state that democracy is alive and healthy because Governor Akpabio is concerned about inaugurating and commissioning live impacting projects which has gone a long way to service the people and sustained our democracy rather than mere celebration without lasting impact, proposed mainly for media hype.

Over the years democracy has been in practice, the benefits and the impact of democracy in our State has been a blossom harvest because of uncommon leadership with outstanding performance sent by God to transform our lots into lasting wealth.  A proficient leader is a key in today’s Democracy; else it will amount to wanton spending and duplication of duties without sustainability.

For democracy to make a difference, it depends solely on who wears the shoe, as we all know that straight and properly knitted and molded legs will showcase the beauty of a shoe more than bended, twisted and bow legs. This implies that forcing yourself on a shoe that is under or over seize could actually wreck the shoe. This simply means that democracy in wrong hands is equal to stagnation, retrogression and a wasteful venture, but the right size of shoes on the right legs means a perfect match. The level of democracy in Akwa Ibom state is truly uncommon because it’s a perfect match as the shoe seize and neatly fit the person wearing it Chief Godswill Akpabio (CON).

Every year we mark democracy day with colorful displays and songs of compatriot but with the emergence of chief Akpabio the tune of democracy has been so audible to the hearing of everyone, that even the deaf can hear it, the dumb can speak it, the blind can see it, the sick can feel it in their soul that Chief Dr. Godswill Akpabio has implemented Democracy in full measure in Akwa Ibom State.

Democracy was heavenly birth to alleviate and eliminate man’s monopoly of power to the detriment of a fellow man, else the people in the middle and lower class of life will perpetually remain under oppression of the fortunate rich and powerful, who at all times will want to control, possess, own, dominate and manipulate other people’s choice to their favor, victimized souls, weaken the body, silence voices and imprison conscience.

In search of a proficient leader, it is possible to choose an unconcerned, incapable and incompetent person to man the affairs of a state, where this happens the state will be taken aback both in infrastructure and human development but if the person elected possesses some level of excellent skills in administration then such a state stand a better chance of elevation in every areas of their economy.

2014 Democracy day was an uncommon celebration in the history of Akwa Ibom State. Permit me to say that the people of the State has had it so good in the last seven years of chief Godswill Akpabio’s Administration, and you will agree with me that this is an indisputable fact with evidences at every nook and cranny of our state, I do not mean to sound inflammatory, although it is better than sounding derogatory. Chief Godswill Akpabio’s style of governance makes the difference altogether in his heights of responsiveness to the people out cry in terms of equitable distribution of wealth, transparency in governance and total compliance with diction and tenants of the rule of law.

Akpabio has taken democracy to another dimension in Akwa Ibom State and brought the dividends of democracy bare before the people, so much that an average Akwa Ibom state person can touch feel and see the state of the art facilities that formerly were only found in advanced countries of the world. Akpabio handles democracy in Akwa Ibom state with passion born out of strong conviction that change is possible and development is certain where there is commitment to a cause that can actually bring an end to all forms of human suffering.

Akwa Ibom State has been transformed in many ways with the instrumentality of democracy as the most appropriate tool for development and the right form of government consisting people with the right mind, thinking ability and skills needed in transforming and developing our society. It gives people the franchise and liberty to choose their leader through popular election and galvanized power to create a strong centripetal administration, as it is often said “power belongs to the people”. This implies that the power possessed and exhibited by leaders comes from the people, so when people agree to pass through vigorous electioneering processes to vote and elect a person to become their leader, they do so based on the confidence and trust they have on such a person, it then expected that the leader will live up to expectation of his people by exploring resources within and employing different skills to improve and transform the environment and the life style of the people.

2014 democracy day is note worthy indeed considering the uncommon dividends of democracy showered on the people of Akwa Ibom by Akpabio’s administration, within this few years the state has under gone series and serious transformation in various sectors. It’s uncommon because never in the history of Akwa Ibom states have we ever witness this kind of massive infrastructural development. Little minds wonder at infrastructures in Akwa Ibom State and without doubt recognize that Chief Godswill Akpabio transforming grace is rooted in God.

Akpabio is a man with a transformed mind and a renewed spirit, drunk with vision and passion to create a meaningful life for his people, he is leading us a right as he goes about doing good in Akwa Ibom State. He has raised the bar of leadership, administration and development in Akwa Ibom State, so it’s important for the person whom God will choose for Akwa Ibom people in 2015 as the governor to key into the spirit of this transforming grace so as to sustain and maintain this spectacle of development for the continuous advancement of our dear state.

With zeal, zest and confidence possessed by Governor Akpabio I am convinced that at the end of his administration come May 29, 2015, his exceeding and transforming grace would leave enough legacies for posterity in Akwa Ibom State.
