Victor Udofia: Breaking the record of Ikono State Constituency BY SIMEON AKWA

Victor Udofia: Breaking the record of Ikono State Constituency
Victor Udofia

It is true that an event has happened upon which is difficult to speak and even impossible to be silent, no wonder a grate poet writer John Mason in one of his book, said people are divided into three groups: (I) those who makes things happen, (II) those watch things happen, (III) those who wonder what’s happening. So is a young charismatic and eloquent lawmaker representing the people of Ikono State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Udofia, whom today has made things to happen in Ikono amidst pomp onlookers of Ikono people, and surprised by those who thought Udofia could never made a difference.

Udofia elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s umbrella by the people of Ikono LGA into the office of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as their lawmaker, sometime precisely on the 6th of June 2011 was sworn in as a member in the State House of Assembly, charged with the responsibility as a pioneer Chairman House Committee on youths sport and security.
He was also appointed into about six other different committees in order to thrive optimally in his oversight functions.

The coming on board of the MD/CEO INNOVATIVE COMPANY was given a rowdy ovation as he brought his wealth of experiences as a private businessman and manager consulting innovative company, a security consulting firm to bear while discharging his duties. During his tenure efficient security system was witnessed in AKHA, while youths were given their pride of place as the youth friendly lawmaker, Hon. Udofia single-handedly sponsored a bill for the employment of Akwa people especially the youths as a quota which has sailed through the first and second reading. In the area of sports, the lawmaker tried his best to ensure the collaboration between his Committee and Youth & Sport Ministry which also recorded a success. No wonder the speaker, Hon. Sam Ikon, described him in one of his empowerment programme as dependable and trusted.

During his first year as a lawmaker, Hon. Victor Charles Udofia as part of his oversight function deviated a little in his lawmaking duty became a “possibilitarian”. No matter the fact that no appointed nor elected person has ever put smiles on the people of Ikono like Hon. Victor Charles Udofia who always try to raise his sight and see possibilities even when his predecessors never saw, developed his dreams with momentum and with the purpose he provided increase. That is why he splashes gift items such as motorcycles to over hundred people of his constituency, donated about ten cars to some of his core supporters in fulfillment of his campaign promises. Udofia never stop at that, during the period under review more than fifty elders also benefited with one hundred thousand naira each, aside from another hundred of students who also smiles home with thirty thousand naira each to boost their educational programme.

To many, though it was a record breaking in the history of Ikono, they thought it can never be repeated as far as Udofia is concern, but it was a different story entirely when the young and outspoken astute politician poured out another set of empowerment programme amidst surprise and people who stormed the venue of the event to its beam singing praise song and pouring blessing and encomium on their lawmaker, which was witnessed by who is who in Ikono politics.

This time, beneficiaries sang and dance with twenty motor cycles, fifty thousand naira to more than twenty people while another fifty with not less than twenty thousand naira each to boost their small and medium scale businesses. Udofia has not only giving hundreds of Ikono finish but also taught them how to fish thereby recommending them to different job opportunities which today are sending different commendation messages to their lawmaker.

Already, the Honourable has build and furnished different units of six classroom blocks each, a civic center and mini bore holes spread across the Constituency in fulfillment of his effective representation.

Again the Assembly may be counted as the only lawmaker who have succeeded in facilitating a road construction in Ikono by the State Government and even the about to be commenced internal road at Ibiaku Ntokokpo by NDDC single-handedly.

This is why his party (PDP) recently having satisfied with Hon. Udofia’s unprecedented track records and performance by specifically given his people an effective representation, boldly passed a vote of confidence on him and adopted him as the sole candidate that should again return to the State Lawmaking body in order to complement his good works, duly signed by sixteen chapter officers and ten ward chairman as the majorities.

Surprisingly, Udofia is the first Ikono-middle person who is given an opportunity in the State House of Assembly showing the people that injustice is a threat to justice. He is today seeking a re-mandate from Ikono, justifying the fact that Ikono South and Ediene Itak has been there in AKHA for eight and twelve year respectively.

Again, the people of Ikono by September will once again converged to witness and celebrate with their Performing Assemblyman as he flag-off his third empowerment programme to mark his third year as a lawmaker. Indeed, there is no doubt that this time Udofia’s humanitarian services will be extend to people who probably were not touched during the first and second empowerment, thereby proving the fact that Ikono people are not disappointed with him in the House of Assembly.

This is why all hands must be on deck to ensure that Udofia is returned one hundred percent to the AKHA in order to continue with his good works, hence accepting the fact that if Ikono middle is also given an opportunity to serve as the next Chairman of People Democratic Party which has never zone to the area before compared to other two zones who have taken a slot, Ikono middle will never disappoint the people. Remember one good term deserves another.
