AKHA 2015: Pharm. (Prince) Edet Eniang - the right choice for Itu State Constituency

The Itu State Constituency in the forth coming House of Assembly race is set to reap bountifully from the wealth of experience of their purposeful and visionary son, Pharmacist (Prince) Edet Eniang. 

Elder (Prince) Edet Eniang, a former Director in the Department  of Pharmaceutical services (DPS) in the state who is the Principal of Itu Collective Mandate Organization is poised to make the difference in the history of Itu State Constituency representation cum Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly when elected to prove his mettle come 2015 House of Assembly election. 

The Ayadehe born Pharmacist who has a first hand knowledge of the demoralizing effect of a degrading and deteriorating environment on the socio-economic life of the citizenry as encapsulated in his Itu constituent- a foremost Local Government Area in the country, dating back to the colonial era, promised to give quality representation aimed at revamping the ailing economy of the state and affording its citizenry opportunities to gain meaningful employment. 

Elder Eniang who accepted the mandate of representing the people of Itu Stated constituency on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP contends that his decision was inspired by the need to use the House of Assembly platform to attract meaningful human and capital development to his local government area in particular and the state in general with the view to stepping up the present economic status quo ante. 


To realize such lofty ideals for his people, Prince Eniang who has garnered the necessary prerequisite to achieving the desired goals intends to sponsor bills that will facilitate the revamp of ailing industries with the concomitant effect of attracting core investors to the area cum state in pursuant of the ultimate goal of creating employment avenues for the teeming unemployed.

As a testament to the good and liberal nature of Elder Eniang in making good his election promises when elected to the house, his recent Philanthropic gesture in distributing free medical facilities including drugs to villages in the constituency confirmed Elder Eniang’s generous disposition in his commitment to the well being of the people. 

Elder Prince Eniang, before his recent interest in partisan politics has worked in various Government hospitals within and outside the state and has risen through the ranks in the civil service to the position of Director, Pharmaceutical services in the State Government employ. His pedigree as Facilitator/Resource person in many Government health programmes as well as consultant to State Government on National Programme on Immunization (NPI); Free Health Care Programme implementation within and across six (6) South-South states of the federation stands Elder Prince Edet Eniang out as the next celebrated achiever in the State House of Assembly come 2015. 

As the Rotary Club of Uyo Past President and Ayadehe Clan Council Leader of Thought, Prince Edet Eniang has contributed immensely in the areas of management and professionalism at state and National Levels. His contributions have earned him celebrated award including distinguished Leadership Award; current Merit Award Winner (MAW) of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria; Fellow, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN); Fellow, Post Graduate College of Pharmacist (FPC. Pharm) among others. 

Formulating laudable policy blueprints which is a hallmark for bills sponsoring is not a new phenomenon to Prince Eniang as he has held the position of Past chairman of logistics technical working Group; various health committees as well as manager for Health System Fund (HSP) project among others in the state. His position as Sunday school leader and an Elder in the Apostolic Church has exposed him to the in-depth moral/spiritual and material needs of the people-both young and old. 

Born in Ayadehe Itu to the Eniang Royal family of Ikot Akpabio in 1956, Prince Edet Eniang started his journey to greatness in the 1960s at Cruickshank Presbyterian School, Oku Iboku, Itu L.G.A and later finished his secondary education both at Duke Town Secondary School and Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar (1970-74). 

His next port of call was the Polytechnic Calabar for his Basic Studies programme in Natural and Applied Science (1975-77). At the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Prince Eniang pursued his Degree programme in Pharmaceutical Science (1979-82) and cap up his career professionalism at the post-Graduate College of Pharmacist, Lagos (1992-98) where he bagged his Fellowship. Not contented with his achievement educationally, the erudite pharmacist in 1999 went for his Diploma in Health Systems Management at Galilee College, Israel before enrolling at the University of Uyo in 2009 for his Masters of Science in Pharmacology. 

Elder (Prince) Edet Eniang, a household name in Itu State constituency and a widely acceptable candidate for 2015 Itu State House of Assembly race enjoys this acceptability because of his people-oriented, Gender Sensitive, human development and employment gesture. Coupled with his trust worthy and God-fearing personality, Elder (Pharm) Edet Uyire Eniang is poised to deliver more dividends of democracy through purposeful leadership and proactive representation. 

Prince Eniang remains the man of the moment and the people’s choice.
