FRSC says arrive alive in Eket
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Eket, Akwa Ibom, has embarked on “Operation Arrive Alive” to enlighten motorists on safe use of roads this Yuletide.

The Public Relations Officer of FRSC in Eket, Mr Lucky Ebikefe, announced this at a news conference in Eket on Wednesday.

In addition, Ebikefe said the command had embarked on aggressive public enlightenment, emplacement of mobile courts and deployment of officers and men of the command to cover as much area as possible.

He explained that this was part of its strategies to reduce avoidable carnage in the yuletide.

He said the command had adopted more proactive measures like special/robust /synergy patrols.

According to him, the enhanced activities are responsible for the drastic reduction in the rate of crashes in 2014 when compared with same period in 2013.

“We adopted a proactive approach to instil discipline and safety consciousness in motorists and other road users this year”, he said.

He advised motorists to be extra cautious during this period as more crashes were usually recorded at this time of the year.

He cautioned them to avoid drunk driving and speeding especially with the pervasive harmattan haze.

He urged motorists to observe and obey traffic rules in order to arrive alive and celebrate the season with loved ones.
