Ahead of February  2015 general elections, the Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Government on Investment and Industrialization, Chief Senas Ukpanah has tasked members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that they give block votes to the gubernatorial flag bearer, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his running mate, Mr. Moses Ekpo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial candidate of the party, Governor Godswill Akpabio. Ukpanah gave the charge during interaction with PDP Ward 5 executive members at Nsekhe on Saturday.

Chief Ukpanah said that the people of Ukanafun Local Government Area would benefit from Mr. Emmanuel given the fact that he is a long time friend of the area. He charged the people to work hard to ensure that they deliver 100 per cent votes to all candidates of the party as an expression of undiluted support to PDP. Chief Ukpanah who took time to enlighten ward executive on the importance of permanent voters’ cards stated that it is only with their votes that the people can bargain for what they want from the government. He tasked the people to ensure that they embarked on door-to-door campaign so that the people would turn out enmass to vote during the elections.

He called on all party members, youths, women, elders and party stalwarts should come out to welcome the gubernatorial campaign team that is expected at Central School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk on Saturday, 24th January.

Also speaking, a senior special assistant to the governor on project monitoring, Elder Imoh Emerh tasked the people “to show working” by giving block votes to PDP in the area. He expressed appreciation to the ward executive for their total commitment and unflinching loyalty to the party, adding that the era of “Monkey dey work baboon dey chop is gone”; he advised the people to avoid the temptation of falling prey to opposition parties, saying that whether it is APC or codeine they are ineffective and outlawed drugs. He assured the people that if they vote en masse for the party they can be sure to have the needed facilities in the area.

Barr Aniekan Ukpanah urged the people to vote for the party as they stand a chance to gain a lot from the next PDP administration, describing Mr. Emmanuel as a close friend and a brother who is very reliable. He advised the grassroots to shun the broom party as its logo is a symbol of slavery and housemaid stigma, maintaining that the state cannot go back to Egypt where it had since been delivered from the housemaid syndrome.

Responding on behalf of the executive members, the ward chairman, Mr. Anthony Obot thanked Chief Ukpanah for the interaction which has given them opportunity to ventilate their views and challenges, describing the AKICORP boss as a humble and exemplary leader whose milk of human kindness has been felt by the party in the area as he has severally reported progress. He gave an assurance that there is no black sheep among the members of the executive in the area, just as he pledged total loyalty and continuous commitment to the party. The ward chairman appealed to the leaders of the party from the ward to empower them as committed party faithful.

All ward 5 executives of the party, PDP stalwarts, youths, women and elders were present at the event.
