“Akpabio stops Buhari’s visit” - APC alleges

“Akpabio stops Buhari’s visit” - APC alleges“Akpabio stops Buhari’s visit” - APC alleges

The All  Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has attributed the failure of Buhari’s visit today to Governor Godswill Akpabio. Information reaching our news desk has it that the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio refused the APC from using the state facility due to what sources say is a grand plot to thwart the president’s elect visit due to what the governor perceives may add vim and fillip to Obong Umana Okon Umana’s chances.

The APC alleged that the state Government’s decision to deny the party the stadium is part of Akpabio’s plan to stop the President-elect from spurring support for the APC governorship candidate, Umana Okon Umana and thus, truncating his ambition.

The party claimed that the State Government issued them a letter yesterday denying them the use of the Uyo Township stadium which they earlier applied for to use in hosting Buhari. The letter of denial served on the APC is addressed to the State Secretary of the Party and signed by Nse Edem on behalf of the Honourable for Youths and Sports.

A copy of the letter made available to THE INK reads; “I am directed to refer to your letter of 5th April, 2015 on the above subject matter and to inform you that, the Ministry had already approved the use of the Uyo Township Stadium to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday 9th of April, 2015.

You are by this letter please requested to look for any other alternative venue since the Stadium had already been committed and would not be free on Thursday 9th April, 2015.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause you and also assure you of our highest esteem and regards.”

The APC further alleged that the State Government has done practically nothing to provide security for the President-elect. A top notch in the party frowned furiously at what he claimed as politics of bad blood and hate being played by Governor Akpabio. He stated further that Buhari is not only coming as the President-elect of the Country and they ought to provide security for him.

Based on the negative security reports and the uncertainty if Buhari comes, APC sources in the state informed our reporter that Buhari has decided to stand down his planned visit.

The cancellation became imperative owing to the uncertainty of Buhari’s safety, Sources say.
