Death of UNIUYO guard: More trouble for Prof Etete Peters

Prof. Etete Peters
The family and community of  the security guard from a private outfit, JEKASON, attached to the residence of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) Prof. Etete Peters are at daggers-drawn with the CMD over the death of one of their own.

The late security guard, Mr. Isong is said to have been bitten by one of the dogs in the residence of Prof. Peters. Sources at UUTH said that the victim was immediately admitted at the Teaching Hospital and after the necessary documentations, the doctor on duty is said to have prescribed the requisite drugs, but there was no money to purchase drugs for the treatment of the victim. The staff of the security outfit were said to owe the staff including the deceased for five months, just like the UUTH staff are bitter over the entitlements. A source at the ward told our reporter that Isong passed through serious pains and died after barking like a dog.
The alleged owner of the security dog is said to have paid deaf ear to the agony of Isong even as the deceased was owed about five month’s salary. A family source said that they are even more infuriated by the statement credited to Prof. Peters in one of the national duties that the story is false. “We do not owe our staff. The security man in question is not our employee. We have actually received report that a guard slumped and died”, he quoted the paper.
Some members of community who spoke with our reporter vowed to take their pound of flesh even as the UUTH management has refused them access to the corpse to the deceased, Mr. Etim Akpan who claim to be a family member of the diseased described the CMD “as an unrepentant liar who plays god when he is just human adding “no problem there is God”
As at press time, Prof. Peters was unreachable for comments.
