AKSG partners unemployed graduates towards self employment

In pursuance of its avowed resolve to usher in a face lift for unemployed youths in Akwa Ibom State, government is currently working out modalities to empower unemployed graduates to be self employed.
 
Commissioner for youths and sports, Sir Monday Uko said in an interview with newsmen in his office that, his Ministry in furtherance of this stand point recently convened a meeting with some affected graduates to actualize this government dream.
 
The Ministry boss noted that, youths unemployment has become a serious source of concern to previous government in the State, prompting the Udom led administration to take the bull by the horns by introducing the graduate unemployment programme.
 According to the Commissioner, “at the moment, my Ministry has partner with over two thousand unemployed graduates cutting across the 31 Local Government Areas  in various fields of human endeavour, and the idea is to make them self employed”. 
 
He disclosed that the applicant have already been directed to summit their proposal on what they intend to invest on, when the expected loan from government will be given to them.
 
Uko explained that the present government which is industrial driven is determined to create wealth through empowerment of the youths to establish their own small scale businesses.
 
“Our target is to empower our teeming unemployed youths to become managers of their own enterprises and if possible, become employers of labour themselves at no record time.
 
The intended loans will be attractive since the package is to alleviate poverty and create wealth, especially, among youths”, the Commissioner pledged.
On the recently trained youths who went to Israel for professional expertise, the former Obot Akara Council boss used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor’s gesture in the said training adding that arrangement was in top gear to absorb the youths to become ‘mega’ in their chosen fields.
 
Commissioner Uko used the also advised youths in the state to refrain from all acts, vices, that will bring reproach to humanity and shame to government of the day by abstaining from cultism and other damaging youthful tendencies that are capable of ruining their future.
