Stakeholders of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area have reassured the State Governor Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of their determination to support him beyond 2019 till he completes his tenure which they said will elapse in 2023.

The stakeholders stated this last weekend when they met with the Governor at the Hiltop mansion at Government House in Uyo.

Speaking, the leader of the stakeholders and political Leader of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Mr. Chelly Okoko commended the Governor and described him as a legend who in the face of dwindling economy has been able to live above board. 

He spoke onbehalf of the stakeholders and maintained that the state Chief Executive in less than two years in office has been able to restore hope and confidence in the minds of Akwa Ibom people.


Okoko said the people of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area are proud of Governor Udom Emmanuel and added that they are justified that they supported the Governor for a second term.

The Political Leader of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area opined that with the antecedents of Governor Emmanuel across the state that the people of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area shall return the State CEO to a second term.

Okoko said the people of the Local Government Area are particularly grateful to the Governor for appointing Dr. Uduak Charles Udoinyang into his Executive Council as a commissioner to serve in the Ministry of Agriculture. 

He described the Agriculture commissioner as a man that is worth his onions. He expressed the optimism that the Governor will not be disappointed with Udoinyang as his Exco member.

He commended the State Governor for the projects he has initiated in Ikot Abasi and hinted that those projects when they are completed will completely turn around the fortunes of the people of the area.

Okoko said the coconut plantation, the jetty and the Oil and gas Free zone amongst other projects that Governor Emmanuel is bringing to Ikot Abasi is not only a morale boaster but an avenue to make the Local Government Area an Economic hub in the comity of states across Nigeria.

The Ikot Abasi Political Leader furthered that with all the Governor has done for Ikot Abasi that they only came to say thank you and promised to do everything within their ability to ensure that the Governor wins a second term that will see him serve Akwa Ibom State as her Governor till 2023.

The leader of the delegation also used the opportunity to plead with the Governor to assist the Local Government Area to get uninterrupted power supply. 

Okoko hinted that the predicament of ALSCON has affected the area in terms of power supply. He appealed to the Governor to please help the LGA link up with Ibom Power Company which is in the LGA noting that with the link up, the Area will benefit immensely from the advantages of Electricity supply.

In his vote of thanks, the member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency described Governor Emmanuel as a leader amongst leaders, the transformer of boys into men and a man who can be trusted. The lawmaker heaped praises on the state Governor and maintained that he will rally members of his constituency to support Governor Emmanuel for a second term.

Responding the state Governor expressed much gratitude to the stakeholders of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area for their show of gratitude.
Mr. Udom Emmanuel described the visit as timely and a welcome development saying that their commendations will make him work harder for the people. He explained the nature of the nation’s economy to the people and promised that he will not play politics with the development of Akwa Ibom State.

The State Governor promised to look into the challenges of erratic power supply the people are facing and promised that sooner than later that, the issue shall be attended to.

He thanked the people for the visit and appealed to them to ensure that they support the Government to ensure that the projects of Government in the area are not distorted. 

He promised that the people of Ikot Abasi shall benefit from his leadership skills and called on the people to respect and love one another.
He described the stakeholders as a group of good people who are partners in the Akwa Ibom Project.

Uwem Okoko, MD HENSEK Integrated Services, Mr. Harold Iwatt Chapter Chairman of the PDP in the Area, Ubong Uquang, transition Chairman of the Area, Justus Ntuk, Commissioner 1, LGSC, Elder Atako Ukporo, Chairman Elders Forum, Stanley Inyang Chapter Secretary of the PDP and Mrs. AbasiOdiong Majorie who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Skills Acquisition as well as thirty three others.
