Fulfilling the Promise: Governor’s Wife performs groundbreaking for the construction Cassava/Palm Oil factories —To be commissioned on May 29

In order to make life better for women and in fulfillment of her campaign promises, the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel,  last week, performed the groundbreaking ceremony of FEYREP’s cassava and palm oil processing factories in Ini, Ibiono Ibom, Etim Ekpo and Oruk Anam Local Government Areas respectively.

In Ini Local Government Area, the event took place at Ananamong village, Itu Mbonuso on Tuesday, 11th April, 2017.

Setting the tone for the event, the State Coordinator of FEYREP, Mrs. Ime Ephraim Inyang said the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony is borne out of the Governor’s wife’s passion in making life worthwhile for women in the state, adding that the cassava processing machines would reduce the stress usually encountered by the women in the course of processing and producing cassava and palm oil; and would enhance abundant food supply and job creation.


Mrs. Ephraim Inyang assured that in addition to free medical care already rendered, the Governor’s wife will continue to do more in empowering the women, to enable them take care of themselves and their families.

On her part, Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel thanked God for ordering their steps to Itu Mbonuso as site for the cassava processing factory.  She thanked stakeholders in Ini Local Government Area for gracefully providing the land for the factory, while announcing that the gesture to provide the factory is in fulfillment of the campaign promises made by her and the Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, while assuring the unflinching efforts of Governor Udom’s administration to ensure that government presence is felt in all local government areas of the state.

The Governor’s wife told the women that the factory would be a hub of industry, as it would facilitate the production of garri in larger quantity with little or no stress for export; and called on the youths to guard against disruption of work at the site and vandalization of the equipments, while reiterating her avowed commitment to do more for the women.

She disclosed that the factory would be commissioned on May 29, 2017.

The Chairman, Ini Local Government Transition Committee, Mr. Israel Idaisin expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Martha for bringing development to the area, and guaranteed total resourcefulness of Ini people in the use of the cassava processing machine.

In the same vein, the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony of FEYREP’s oil processing factory in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area took place at Edem Akai on Wednesday, 12th April, 2017, after which Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel proceeded to Oruk Anam LGA for the groundbreaking ceremony of FEYREP’s palm oil processing factory and ultra-modern market.

Present at the events were political stakeholders, traditional rules, elders, women and youths in the four local government areas where the ceremonies took place.
