FEYReP empowers multiple birth families

No fewer than 150 multiple birth families across the state have been empowered in the Third Phase of the Multiple Birth Programe of Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-Initiative (FEYReP), a social intervention vehicle of the Akwa Ibom State governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel.

The event which held Friday at the Multi-Purpose hall, Judiciary Headquarters, Uyo, saw the beneficiaries given start-up capital to help kick start businesses by the governor’s wife.

In her remarks, Mrs. Emmanuel said the empowerment which is done at regular interval is aimed at assisting families cope with the demands of raising multiple children. She admonished the multiple birth parents to accept the children as a source of blessing from God and not otherwise. 
“It is a privilege to give birth to twins 

and triplets, God’s grace has located you. I urge you to take care of your children and bring them up in the way of the lord.” She said.

The governor’s wife further advised the nursing mothers to always breast feed their babies, positing that breast milk contains high nutritional value which is very neccessary in the lives of infants.

She charged the multiple birth mothers to support and encourage their husbands by investing the funds received in trade, asserting that no matter how little the funds are, they should start something and make sure it multiplies.

Earlier in her tone setting, the coordinator of FEYReP, Mrs. Ime Inyang appreciated the Governor’s wife for the empowerment stating that the event has brought succor to multiple birth parents in the state. 

Inyang described Mrs. Emmanuel as a mother that has the people at heart, observing that her tireless passion towards bringing relief to families through multi-faceted social interventions has earned her a place in history. 

While admonishing the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the empowerment, she added that more multiple birth families would be empowered subsequently.

In their separate advise to the women, wife of the SSG, Barr. Gloria Umoren, The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet, Chairman Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi as well as wife of AKHA leader, Mrs. Ime Kierien admonished the beneficiaries to invest the money received wisely, pointing out the programme has brought relief to very many multiple birth families in the state. 

They also extolled the motherly virtues of the governor’s wife for consistently rolling out empowerment packages to Akwa Ibom families irrespective of their vicinity, praying that God would bless and multiply her. 

The programme which witnessed a health talk on hygiene and nutrition by a nursing officer, Mrs. Iniobong Antia also had the multiple birth parents compete in dancing competition.

A cross section of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event thanked the governor’s wife for her benevolence and show of love for them in the state, praying that God will guide and sustain her good works.
