AYO Marks 100 days *Receives Chairmanship, Councillorship aspirants

A frontline youth organization in Oro, known as Akpakip Oro Youth Organization (A.Y.O) has celebrated its 100 Days in office with a call on Oro youths to be worthy ambassadors that will project the unity, progress and the course of Oro nation for the betterment of its people.

This was part of the resolution reached at the end of an enlarged general meeting of the group, which held at 115 Nwaniba Road, UyoAkwaIbom State recently.

Speaking during the occasion, the International President of the body Comdr. Murphy Okon thanked the entire Oro youths for turning up en-mass to show their solidarity for the union, describing them as today’s leaders who are capable of transforming the nation.

He said A.Y.O was borne about 100 Days ago with an aim of making leaders out of the group, driven by the sole mandate of unity, togetherness and transformation of the youths as well as making them the present leaders.

Comdr. Murphy however, thanked the youths for embracing the group wholeheartedly, pointing out that so far over ninety youths of the group have benefited from its empowerment programme within the period under view.


He said this was done in a bid to make the youths of Oro extraction self-reliance as well as be good ambassadors. The group President equally emphasized that the body is also targeting at identifying with good governance within the Federal and State Governments, however, charged those aspiring for political offices in the forthcoming Local Government elections to carry the interest of the people at heart with a target of rendering selfless services to the people.

He used the opportunity to congratulate the few sons and daughters of Oro nation who have indicated interest to vie for different political offices with a mandate to serve their people. He accordingly pledged the group’s support, even as he wishes them well in their political endeavours.

High point of the occasion was the presentation of manifestoes by Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants from Oro, Udunguko, Okobo and Urefong/Oruko L.G.A.s, soliciting for the group’s support
