Akwa Ibom State governor,
Mr. Udom
Emmanuel, has again assured that, his administration will continue to implement
policies that will improve the transport sub sector of the State’s economy.
Speaking through his Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim
Inyangeyen, who represented him at the maiden end of year Transporters Get -
Together party held at the Ibom Hall Ground on Saturday December 30, Governor
Emmanuel expressed delight that, the transport sector under the
watch of Hon. Orman Esin put together the idea of the get-together, observing
that, it will strengthen the bond of unity and progress in the sector.
Governor Udom Emmanuel lauded the organization and decorum,
which he said, has been witnessed in the transport sector and charged members
to continue on the positive path they have established. He pledged continued
cooperation of the State government with the transporters, adding that, he will
continue to ensure that their welfare concerns are addressed. He charged them
to remain law abiding and support the PDP government to succeed.
Responding on behalf of transporters, the Commissioner for
Transport and Petroleum Resources, Hon. Orman Esin, thanked Governor Udom
Emmanuel for the goodwill he has demonstrated towards transporters in the State.
Hon. Esin recounted the concessions given by the governor to the transporters,
especially, giving them ticket free days, which he noted is is a gesture highly
appreciated by the transporters.
Hon. Esin announced that, the transporters have adopted a
resolution to endorse the governor and encourage him to seek reelection in 2019
so he can complete the projects he has started.
Highpoint of the event was a raffle draw lucky dip, where one
lucky winner, went home with a branded mini bus. Other prizes won include, a
deep freezer, 10 live goats, ticket free pass for the whole year 2018 for 10
winners among others.
The
event was attended by thousands of members of the various transport unions and
their leaders, as well as other critical stakeholders like the federal road
safety commission, and traffic officials across the State
